Offshore Recruiter | International Resources & Services for Employees Resume

Writing a Resume

There isn't a job you can apply to without a decent resume, everybody has a past as employee or maybe even as a self employed individual. When you are going to apply to a job, your relevant job history, education and skills need to be listed in a resume which is easily read by employers or recruiters.

Especially when one desires to work offshore, a resume is a must to have. Since the oil and gas industry is a multi-billion dollar business, your resume better be a good one or employers will pass you by. There are a lot of experienced hands out there and since you can start working offshore in pretty much any part of the world, you will need an edge to conquer others!

We'd like to call this the "Element of Selling Yourself". You won't sell a product without a classy box, manual and well known brand name. The same counts for getting a job, where you are the product, and the employer will be paying for it. You won't find yourself easily hired, without a decent resume and cover letter.

What makes one resume better then the other?

Maybe you do have a resume, and you think it's got all that jazz you need to get hired. But still, nobody is banging down your door to haul you away offshore. In that case, the "Element of Selling Yourself" might be missing.

It's not just jotting down your past and present on a piece of paper,
it goes beyond that, and much further then you may expect.

You might not believe it, but a resume isn't just a listing of your job history. A resume also needs a cover letter, your job history needs to be in a logical order and has to show what function you held and which responsibilities your had. Other then that, you will need to list skills, education, did you take an offshore course, what certifications do you hold etc etc. All that, and more, also needs to be in logical order and not randomly written down on a piece of paper.

Last but not least, you will need to understand that you may be a bit proud of your past employment, but overdoing it and looking cocky will also be a reason for a potential employer to turn you down. Understand this: Everything needs to be just right to hit the nail on the head.

I don't have a resume and I haven't a clue where to start...

If that's the case, we will be happy to assist you. Just write down anything and everything you can remember from your employment history, schools you went to, relevant skills and important characteristics of yourself. Email this information to us and we will put together a resume including cover letter which you can send out or post online when applying to a job. Your chances of being hired will go up with at least 80%.

Whatever you do, make sure you have a resume that speaks for itself when applying to a job. Make sure you add relevant information in your resume and cover letter which is specifically important to the job function you are applying to.
